Eight people were rescued by firefighters after being trapped for several hours on the 'Iron Shark' roller coaster at the Pleasure Pier amusement park, located in Galveston, Texas.
The incident occurred on Thursday when the ride stopped near the top of a vertical climb of about 30 meters, leaving passengers immobilized vertically. Footage captured during the rescue shows firefighters using a lift to evacuate the trapped individuals.
The Landry's Inc group, the owner of the ride, stated that a malfunction caused the incident but assured that the safety system functioned according to standards. In a statement, the company emphasized that its priority was the safety of visitors.
A complete inspection of the ride will be conducted before allowing it to restart.
