The President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, stated that beer, the most popular alcoholic beverage in the country, will benefit from a 20% discount during the 2026 World Cup. This measure, announced during the inauguration of a road project in the province of Guayas, will apply until July 19, the date of the tournament's conclusion held in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Noboa mentioned that other beverages, including wine, will also be exempt from consumption tax during this period. On the occasion of the announcement, the president emphasized that Ecuador is preparing for the fifth World Cup, considering the match against the Ivory Coast. He expressed optimism about the national team's performance, stating that they will go "very far" in the competition.
