The two earthquakes, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, that struck Venezuela on June 24, caused a tragic toll of 6,301 deaths, according to the announcement made by the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez.

The governor of La Guaira state, Jose Alejandro Terran, reported that nearly 1,400 people are still missing. Authorities have classified 9,567 buildings as having a "high risk," and 12,411 homes are no longer habitable.

Many families have been forced to move into temporary shelters or to relatives, and nearly 24,000 affected people are living in camps in Caracas and La Guaira, a tourist area severely affected by the disaster.
