A 24-year-old man stole a light Cessna 172 aircraft from the airfield in Kalocsa, Hungary, taking off without authorization in the direction of Paks. Hungarian military radars quickly detected him, and two Gripen fighter jets were scrambled to intervene. The aircraft reached the area of the nuclear power plant in Paks, where it performed prohibited maneuvers in a no-fly zone. Subsequently, the pilot made an emergency landing in a sunflower field, causing damage to the aircraft, but without recording any injuries.

The Gripen jets monitored the situation until the arrival of intervention teams. The pilot, identified as being from Szomor, was caught by the police after he attempted to flee on foot and tried to steal the car of a driver who stopped to help him. It appears that he was drunk and confused at the time of his apprehension.
