On the night of April 6, the port city of Novorossiysk in southern Russia was the scene of explosions, with residents reporting a drone attack on the Sheskharis oil terminal, causing damage to residential buildings as well. This incident is part of a series of Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil terminals aimed at limiting the profits Russia gains from rising global oil prices. According to the independent Russian news channel Astra, the fires were most intense at the terminal's first pier, and control nodes were also affected. The governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev, confirmed the attack, reporting eight injuries, including two children, and damage to six apartment blocks and two houses. Other cities in the region, such as Anapa and Sochi, have been placed on high alert. Novorossiysk, a key base for the Russian Black Sea Fleet, has previously been targeted by Ukrainian attacks, and the Sheskharis oil terminal is one of the most important export points for Russia. Ukraine continues to strike Russian military infrastructure to diminish Moscow's capacity to conduct the war against it.
