In a recent speech, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed the need for Poland to protect its interests in the face of "naive globalization" and called on energy companies to prioritize supplying cheap energy over maximizing profits. This statement led to a nearly 7% fall in the WIG energy index, while Rafako shares surged 45% after Tusk's suggestion to turn the plant into an arms producer. Tusk also announced a 53 billion zloty project to build Poland's first nuclear power plant, with contracts for local contractors.
