The Walt Disney Company has announced a strategic investment of 1 billion dollars in OpenAI, which will allow users of the Sora application to generate videos with over 200 characters from the Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars universes starting next year.

Sora uses text commands to create video clips, but has sparked controversy regarding the use of intellectual property. Disney has signed a three-year licensing agreement with OpenAI, granting access to its copyright-protected characters. CEO Bob Iger emphasized the importance of this partnership, mentioning the responsible use of AI.

Under the agreement, Disney will also obtain additional rights to purchase shares in OpenAI and will implement ChatGPT for employees. Additionally, videos generated by Sora will be available on the Disney+ platform. This partnership reflects a new stage in the collaboration between the entertainment industry and AI technologies, emphasizing the protection of copyright and user safety.
