A fire broke out at a hospital in the city of Ludwigslust, in northern Germany, around 4:30 AM, resulting in the death of two people, patients of the hospital.
The spokesperson for the Ludwigslust-Parchim district confirmed that, although over 30 people were injured, none of them suffered serious injuries. The fire was initially located in a patient's room, but it is still unknown whether the victims were in the same room. The hospital's roof structure, which has 160 beds and is the only one in the area, was severely affected, and flames and smoke were visible from a distance.
Patients and staff were evacuated, some being transported to the hospital courtyard, while others managed to exit on their own. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the fire.
