Two dentists from Italy have been convicted of bodily harm and illegal practice of the profession, being ordered to pay compensation to a patient.

A dentist was struck off from the Order of Dentists for not paying dues for 12 years and received a sentence of 1 year and 5 months in prison for bodily harm, fraud, and illegal practice of the profession. Another dentist was sentenced to 3 months in prison, having been found guilty only of bodily harm. The two must pay a provisional sum of 14,300 euros to a patient who suffered due to their improper interventions.

The woman stated that she underwent surgery in 2017, during which eleven teeth were extracted without her being given an X-ray. The received prosthetics were temporary and inadequate, severely affecting her quality of life. The court confirmed that the dentists used cheap materials, and the victim suffered devastating consequences. Upon hearing the sentence, the woman felt that she finally received justice, although her life was profoundly affected. Another notable case is that of Lionel Guedj, dubbed 'the dentist of horror,' who was sentenced to 8 years in prison for similar offenses.
