The Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen urged Washington on Sunday to stop "threatening" Greenland following President Donald Trump's statement that the U.S. has an "absolute" need for territory for national security.

"I must be very clear to the United States: it is absolutely absurd to say that the United States should take control of Greenland," said Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in a statement on Sunday evening. She called on Washington to stop "threatening its historic ally."
