Jeppe Bruus, the Danish Minister of Defense, stated on Tuesday that recruits will be deployed in Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory, where they will collaborate with professional soldiers on various missions.

This decision comes in the context of strengthening Denmark's military presence in response to pressure from the United States, especially after accusations from American Vice President JD Vance that Denmark is neglecting the security of this territory. Additionally, in 2025, former President Donald Trump expressed his interest in Greenland, even suggesting the use of force to "acquire" the island.

Denmark recently extended mandatory military service to 11 months, including for women, and recruits will be trained to participate in missions. Bruus mentioned that they will be involved in tasks that do not require extensive specialized training, but he did not provide details about the number of recruits or specific missions.
