The Greek government, led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has suffered high-profile resignations after senior officials were implicated in a scheme to defraud EU farm funds. The European public prosecutor's office, led by Laura Codruța Kovesi, is investigating cases of illegal receipt of subsidies, and the case file contains evidence and interceptions suggesting a criminal network. Despite the allegations, the ministers involved deny any wrongdoing. Greece was recently sanctioned by the European commission for mismanagement of funds, and the government plans to reform the agency responsible for agricultural payments.
