The strike, which does not impact transportation, is a reaction to a bill that introduces new disciplinary regulations, including changes in the structure of the Disciplinary Councils, excluding representatives of the workers. The protesters argue that the reform will facilitate layoffs and penalize union actions. The Minister of Internal Affairs justifies the reform as necessary for the efficiency of the public sector, in the context of a recent scandal related to the fraud of EU aid. The bill is set to be voted on in Parliament.
