Two Pakistanis were arrested in Italy after they set fire to a car next to a gas station in Amendolara (Cosenza), causing the death of four agricultural workers. The images broadcast by Rai television capture the moment when the suspects pour flammable liquid on the vehicle.

Only one man, of Afghan origin, survived by escaping through the trunk, although he suffered burns. He confessed that the victims were exploited and forced to work for free through the illegal caporalato system.

While the CGIL union called the attack an "unspeakable horror," and the vice president of the Italian Episcopal Conference, Francesco Savino, called for a revolt against these practices, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni promised strict measures. The government in Rome aims to combat the phenomenon by issuing 500,000 work visas for non-EU citizens by 2028, an initiative criticized by unions due to bureaucratic blockages.
