A high-ranking Russian official was killed in a car bomb attack near Moscow

A new attack indirectly attributed to the war in Ukraine took place near Moscow, where Damir Davydov, the head of the missile and artillery department of the Russian Ministry of Defense, was killed in an explosion caused by a car bomb in the city of Balashikha.

The incident comes during a period in which Russia is facing repeated attacks on its energy infrastructure, affecting fuel supplies in various regions, including in occupied Crimea.

Russian authorities discovered a second car bomb, detonated in a controlled manner by security forces. This attack joins a series of operations targeting officials involved in Russia's war efforts, and Ukrainian services have been accused by Moscow of being behind these actions.
