The Czech Republic, through the voice of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, announced that it will not participate in the 70 billion euro military support package for Ukraine, agreed upon by NATO member states at the summit in Ankara. This military assistance package is planned for the year 2026, with a promise to maintain a similar level of support in the following year.

The final declaration of the summit emphasizes the unity of allies in support of Ukraine for the defense of its freedom and sovereignty. Most of the aid will come from NATO member European states and Canada, in the context where the United States has reduced its financial support for Kiev following Donald Trump's return to the presidency. Additionally, Prime Minister Babiš stated that the Czech Republic will not meet the goal of allocating 2% of GDP for defense in 2026, but it remains a goal for the 2027 budget.
