In a recent interview, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez harshly criticized the foreign policy of the Trump administration, describing it as a unilateral war waged without consulting allies. He emphasized the challenges posed by the United States, which undermine the international order.

Sánchez, known for his critical stance towards Trump, accused the American president of initiating an illegal conflict, especially after blocking the use of two American military bases in the conflict with Iran.

He also refused to commit to the NATO target of 5% of GDP for defense, considering it arbitrary and unjustified, stating that Spain will allocate approximately 2.1% of GDP for defense, believing that this level is sufficient for common challenges. Trump threatened possible measures against Spain due to its position, but has not yet made any concrete decisions.
