The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the USA has decided to suspend the publication of its annual report "World Factbook", an emblematic work that has been continuously published for 60 years.
The CIA stated that this guide has been an essential source of information for the intelligence community and the general public, providing detailed data about countries around the world. CIA Director John Ratcliffe previously mentioned that the agency will discontinue programs that do not contribute to its core missions.
The report, initially known as "The National Basic Intelligence Factbook", was launched in 1962, and the unclassified version was released in 1971, being renamed "World Factbook" in 1976. In 1997, the report became available online, attracting millions of views annually.
