Christine Lagarde, the President of the European Central Bank, will bring next week a list of measures aimed at stimulating economic growth and the competitiveness of the European Union, as part of a direct effort to encourage governments to accelerate reforms.

Although European leaders have been discussing deeper integration and modernization of the single market for years, progress has been slow, and external challenges, such as U.S. tariffs and the war at the eastern border, have not spurred reforms. Lagarde mentioned that the list includes measures to improve productivity and harness Europe's talent. The informal EU leaders' summit will address strengthening the single market in a new geoeconomic context, including proposals for a savings and investment union, digital euro, and simplifying legislation.
