Xu Bo, the founder of the online gaming company Duoyi, has become known as "China's first father," claiming to have over 100 children through surrogate agencies in the United States. Xu wishes to build a "dynasty" and has stated that he wants to have at least 50 sons, whom he considers superior to daughters. In 2023, a court in Los Angeles rejected a request for paternity recognition, but he later won the appeal.
His former partner, Tang Jing, claims that Xu is the father of over 300 children, and the two are in a legal dispute regarding the custody of their daughters. Tang asserts that most of the money received for the care of the children has been spent, and the children do not have an official registered residence. Duoyi has denied these allegations, stating that Xu has just over 100 children, who live in a residence in Irvine, California, cared for by nannies. His surrogacy plans have sparked controversy in China, where this practice is banned.
