The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly rejected the accusations from the United States claiming that Beijing poses a threat to Greenland and the Arctic region. Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that the U.S. is artificially using this threat to justify military and strategic actions. He emphasized that discussions about the status of Greenland must respect the sovereignty of the parties involved. The statements come after U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that Greenland is essential for countering the influence of China and Russia in the Arctic. Trump insisted on transferring control of the island to the U.S., threatening tariffs on Denmark and other European countries that oppose it. Leaders from Denmark and Greenland have categorically rejected this idea, and the European Union will discuss a common response to Washington's pressures.
