The People's Republic of China has urged the United States to immediately stop the "dangerous arms activities" in Taiwan, in the context of the Trump Administration approving a second arms sale to Taipei, worth 11.1 billion dollars.
The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Jiakun, emphasized the importance of the U.S. respecting the commitments made by previous American presidents. Although Taiwan has its own defense industry, it continues to rely on American weapons to counter threats from China.
In November, Washington approved a first arms sale to Taiwan, worth 330 million dollars, which included components for F-16 and C-130 aircraft.
