The Department of Justice has announced charges against an Afghan national, Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, for allegedly planning a terrorist attack on US Election Day. He was arrested after buying weapons and ammunition from an undercover police officer. Tawhedi, 27, entered the US in September 2021 and is currently on parole. Prosecutors allege he began talking to an ISIS recruiter and found ISIS propaganda on his phone.
