A fire broke out Wednesday morning in the Escape Lounge at the departure terminal of London Stansted Airport, prompting the evacuation of passengers.

Although the fire was quickly extinguished and the terminal was reopened, several flights experienced delays. For example, Jet2 flights to Lanzarote, Paphos, and Zakynthos were delayed by about 60 minutes. The departure hall was reopened around 6:30 AM, however, the waiting times at security control are longer than usual. Additionally, the access situation to the airport is complicated by a malfunction in the train signaling system, which cannot stop at Stansted, adding further disruptions for passengers. Airport authorities thank passengers for their patience and recommend checking flight status with the airlines.
