The new CBS chief editor, Bari Weiss, has decided to block the airing of a report on the consequences of the expulsions carried out by the Trump administration, accusing it of political censorship. The report, produced by journalist Sharyn Alfonsi, was set to be aired on the investigative program "60 Minutes" and addressed the expulsion of Venezuelans detained in El Salvador.
CBS announced that the report will be aired in a future program, but Alfonsi believes that its withdrawal is not an editorial decision, but a political one, which could be perceived as corporate censorship. This situation arises in the context of maneuvers to take over American media groups, with close ties between CBS owners and Donald Trump.
CBS has also recently been involved in a scandal related to an interview with Kamala Harris, which led to a payment of 16 million dollars to settle a dispute.
