The Cardiff Council Cabinet will meet to vote on the proposed changes to parking rules, which include additional charges for vehicles weighing over 2,400 kg. These measures are part of a package aimed at reducing congestion and improving air quality, as well as restricting commuter parking in residential areas. The Council mentioned that the new charges have not yet been established and will be announced later.
The plan provides for the city to be divided into three parking zones, prioritizing residents and blue badge holders. Additionally, permits for motorcycles and visitor permits for residents will be introduced. Cllr Dan De'Ath emphasized that the scheme aims to improve community life and achieve climate goals. The changes were influenced by public feedback, which led to significant adjustments in the plan.
