The Canadian government, led by Mark Carney, has announced that it is exploring, in collaboration with CBC/Radio-Canada, the possibility of participating in the Eurovision contest, according to a recently revealed budget document. Although Canada has never participated in Eurovision, several Canadian artists, such as Celine Dion and Natasha St-Pier, have represented other countries in the past. Canada's participation is not ruled out, considering that Eurovision has included non-European countries, such as Australia. In 2022, Canada attempted to launch its own version of the contest but withdrew in 2023. The 2026 edition is expected to be complicated, with tensions among participating countries regarding Israel's participation, and the vote on this issue has been postponed until December.
