The 13 cm tall bust of Caligula was given to Horace Walpole in the 18th century. After 10 years of research, Dr. Silvia Davoli was able to confirm the bust's identity as that of Caligula. The discovery was made by comparing a drawing of the bust commissioned by Walpole with a bronze held in the private art and antiquities collection of the Schroders investment company.
