Brigitte Macron reacted for the first time to the controversy generated by her comments about feminist activists, whom she called "damn fools." In an interview, the wife of the President of France stated that she feels bad if she hurt victims of sexual violence, emphasizing that her statements were private and addressed to a small group. Although she acknowledged that she cannot regret the words spoken, she explained that she wanted to calm the comedian Ary Abittan, accused of rape, following feminist protests.

Brigitte Macron reaffirmed her commitment to victims of violence and requested discretion in her actions. Her comments generated a wave of support for feminist activists, who were backed by various public figures.
