The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) has announced that the supply of cash euros to commercial banks is proceeding according to the approved operational plans. So far, banknotes and coins in euros worth over 3.1 billion euros have been issued to meet demand during the transition period.

BNB and Cash Services Company AD counters will have extended hours, offering leva-euro exchanges on the days of January 17, 24, and 31, 2026. In the first six months of the year, banks will carry out free exchanges of banknotes and coins from leva to euros without limit, applying the official exchange rate. Amounts over 30,000 leva require a prior request. Individuals without bank accounts can exchange amounts up to 5,000 euros with an identification document, while larger amounts are subject to identification procedures according to current legislation.
