Three dogs with blue fur were found in Chernobyl, possibly due to contact with chemical substances.

In Chernobyl, three dogs with a shiny blue coat were discovered, descendants of the animals abandoned after the nuclear disaster in 1986. The association that takes care of the dogs in the abandoned area mentioned that it is possible these dogs came into contact with a chemical substance, which could explain the unusual color of their fur.

The NGO stated that it intends to catch the animals to conduct analyses and better understand the situation. The organization also emphasized that the Chernobyl safety zone shelters approximately 700 dogs.
