Bill Pulte, recently appointed acting director of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) by President Donald Trump, is preparing to implement massive staff reductions.
According to CNN, Pulte has requested a list of all office employees to assess possible layoffs, as he expects cuts of hundreds of positions. Pulte, who was previously the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, has no experience in the field of national security and will coordinate essential agencies such as the CIA and NSA.
This change comes in the context of former director Tulsi Gabbard's resignation, and employees have already been informed about possible staff reductions. Gabbard has already reduced the agency's workforce by about 40% during her tenure. Pulte's visit to ODNI surprised employees, including Gabbard, who was briefly informed about his presence.
