The Belgian Minister of Security, Bernard Quintin, announced that soldiers will patrol in mixed teams with police officers in areas affected by drug-related violence, especially around subway stations and in neighborhoods like Peterbos. This measure comes in the context of a wave of armed attacks related to drug trafficking, with 57 incidents recorded this year. The plan is part of a broader strategy to combat crime in major Belgian cities, including Antwerp and Ghent, and will be implemented as soon as possible, once the legal details are finalized.
