The Belgian Minister of Defense, Theo Francken, stated that the drone sightings observed at the airports in Brussels and Liège are the work of professionals trying to incite panic in the country. The incident led to the suspension of flights on Tuesday evening after a drone was seen near Brussels airport, causing many planes to be diverted and others to be grounded. Brussels airport was reopened after two hours but was closed again after the appearance of more drones. Francken emphasized that these incidents represent a form of destabilization. Recently, drone sightings have also been reported above the Kleine Brogel airbase, used by NATO forces. These incidents join a broader trend of drone appearances in Europe, including in Denmark, Poland, and Romania, raising concerns related to NATO security.
