In the last two months, Belgium and Germany have recorded an increase in suspicious drone overflights above sensitive sites and infrastructure. Berlin has announced that it will support Belgium in its efforts to counter these incidents by providing drone countermeasures.

The German Ministry of Defense stated that the request for assistance was generated by a significant increase in sightings of unidentified drones, including near Belgian military installations. German air forces are already in Belgium to assess the situation and coordinate defense against drones.

This collaboration underscores European solidarity in the face of hybrid threats. In Germany, drone overflights have led to the suspension of air traffic at several airports, and authorities suspect that some of these activities may be linked to Russia.
