Bart De Wever has said that China, through its indirect support for Russia, is joining the 'axis of evil' in the war in Ukraine. Following his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, De Wever emphasized that Beijing does not want Russia to win, but to perpetuate the conflict. He added that Russia is becoming increasingly dependent on China, which imports Russian energy resources. De Wever called on China to stop the war to improve relations with Europe. These statements precede an EU-China summit planned for the end of July.
