Azerbaijan has sent a strong protest to the Russian ambassador after an Iskander missile damaged its embassy in Kiev, destroying part of the perimeter wall and causing serious damage. The Foreign Ministry in Baku confirmed that, although the incident was serious, no one was injured and the embassy continues its activities. President Ilham Aliyev discussed the incident with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, condemning it as an unacceptable violation of international law.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that Russian airstrikes have previously occurred near the embassy, and in March 2022, the Azerbaijani consulate in Kharkiv was severely damaged. Azerbaijan has requested Russia for a proper investigation and detailed explanations.
