Australia has signed a contract with Canada for the sale of a radar system worth 2.5 billion Australian dollars.

Australia signed a contract with Canada on Monday for the sale of a radar system worth 2.5 billion Australian dollars (1.5 billion euros).

Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles stated that this is the first international sale of this system, highlighting the strategic importance of the relationship between the two countries. The first deliveries of the radar, developed by BAE Systems Australia, will begin on July 1, marking the start of extensive cooperation in the defense sector.

The radar allows for long-range surveillance, enhancing defense capabilities and ensuring early warning. The agreement is expected to generate approximately 300 jobs in Australia and 2,300 jobs annually in Canada over the next five years.
