Following the escape of thousands of male prisoners, hundreds of women were raped and killed in Goma prison in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Pictures taken shortly after the M23 rebels took the town show large plumes of smoke rising from the prison. UN forces were unable to visit the prison to investigate further because of rebel restrictions.
