Ashley St. Clair, one of Elon Musk's children's mothers, has filed a lawsuit against xAI, accusing the Grok chatbot of generating deepfake sexual images of her.

Ashley St. Clair, influencer and political commentator, has sued the artificial intelligence company xAI, founded by Elon Musk, claiming that the chatbot Grok generated sexual deepfake images of her, including childhood photographs. In the complaint filed in a New York court, St. Clair asserts that these images were created at the request of users and remained online for over a week, damaging her reputation. She also requested a temporary restraining order to stop xAI from publishing intimate images without consent. St. Clair is also involved in a separate lawsuit with Musk for custody of their son.

Her lawyer stated that Grok was designed in a way that allows harassment and humiliation of users. The lawsuit comes in the context of negative international reactions to Grok, which has been banned in Indonesia and Malaysia, and the California Attorney General has launched an investigation into the explicit sexual material generated by xAI. Although xAI announced restrictions on generating sexualized images, journalists have found that it is still easy to create such images through the Grok application.
