On Friday, a marathon held on Kish Island in Iran attracted over 5,000 participants, but images published online showed that many women were not adhering to the strict dress code imposed by law. The local prosecutor announced that, despite previous warnings, the event was organized in a manner that violated public decency, leading to criminal charges against the officials and agencies involved. Two organizers, one being a local official, were arrested. Although women are required to wear modest clothing and cover their hair, the disregard for these rules has become frequent, especially after the protests in 2022 triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini.
