The Turkish authorities announced the discovery of a statue group measuring 2.2 meters in height, depicting Asklepios, the ancient god of medicine, alongside his son Telesphoros, the child god of healing. The Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, stated that the statue was found during excavations as part of the "Heritage for the Future" initiative, a government program dedicated to expanding archaeological excavations and preserving cultural heritage.

Dating from the late 2nd century AD, the statue group reflects the Roman artistic style, with meticulous details of Asklepios's features. Ersoy emphasized that together, the two figures symbolize the healing process. Aspendos, located in the province of Antalya, is known as one of the best-preserved ancient cities in Turkey, famous for its Roman theater.
