The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced the discovery of a Christian monastery dating from the 4th to 6th centuries, located in Wadi El-Natrun, an important center of early monasticism. Conducted by a team of Egyptian archaeologists, the monastery covers an area of approximately 2000 square meters, with walls one meter thick.

The discovery includes rooms for monks, kitchens, and tombs, suggesting a close connection between monastic life and burial practices. Archaeologists found Coptic inscriptions and murals, providing details about the monastic community. The Egyptian Minister of Tourism welcomed the discovery, emphasizing its importance for understanding the origins of monasticism and promoting religious tourism. Authorities intend to integrate Coptic archaeological sites into tourist circuits, thus enhancing Egypt's cultural heritage.
