Following President Donald Trump's statements regarding the possible reduction of troops in Germany, senior American officials at the Hohenfels training center emphasized the importance of military presence in deterring adversaries and in joint training with allies. They mentioned that, in the event of a conflict, adversaries would face a well-prepared force, composed not only of American troops but also of NATO forces.
Hohenfels, which spans 163 square kilometers, is a key center for combat training, including complex exercises with armored units. Officials emphasized that joint training is essential for interoperability and that the lessons learned from the conflict in Ukraine, particularly regarding the use of drones and electronic warfare, are integrated into training programs. They acknowledged the challenges of maintaining offensive capabilities in the face of constant surveillance by drones, highlighting the need for continuous adaptation to the new realities of warfare.
