Amazon has announced an additional investment of 18 billion euros in Spain, aimed at expanding its data center network and boosting innovations in artificial intelligence (AI). This investment will bring Amazon's total investment in Spain to 33.7 billion euros and could create up to 30,000 jobs by 2035. The announcement was made following a meeting between Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and David Zapolsky, Amazon's legal director, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company's cloud division, previously announced an investment of 15.7 billion euros in the Aragon region, estimating the creation of 17,500 jobs annually by 2033. However, Amazon is facing delays in connecting to transport networks in Europe, which affects its expansion plans.

The European Commission has proposed changes to accelerate the approval of permits necessary for modernizing energy networks, a crucial aspect for attracting new industrial investments. Amazon continues to build and expand its infrastructure in Europe, already having data centers in over 20 countries, including France, Germany, and Spain.
