Stoianoglo did not condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine but called it 'a continuing tragedy'. He claims he would not oppose rapprochement with the EU, but calls for 'every step towards Brussels' to be 'taken together' with the pro-Russian separatist regime in Tiraspol. The candidate has been criticized for his relations with fugitive Russian oligarchs, and his opponents accuse him of possible Moscow backing. The second round of Moldova's presidential election is scheduled for Sunday, November 3.
