Chapter 9: The Direction of the Country and Sources of Concern
According to BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research, edition III, conducted between September 1 - 9, 2025, the main sources of concern for Romanians are rising prices and the possibility of a conflict/war in the region.
BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research is a monthly opinion poll conducted by INSCOP Research on behalf of the news platform Informat.ro in partnership with the Strategic Thinking Group think tank.
BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research aims to bring to public attention topics of interest to stimulate national conversations about various subjects and essential public policies for the present and future of Romania, based on the opinions of Romanians in partnership with prestigious think tanks and academic institutions. It is an initiative through which we aim to contribute to the strengthening of democracy by using scientific and credible tools that bring the voice of citizens to the forefront of public debate.
Methodology: Data was collected between September 1-9, 2025. Research method: interview via questionnaire. Data was collected using the CATI method (telephone interviews), with a simple stratified sample volume of 1103 people, representative of significant socio-demographic categories (gender, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged 18 and over. The maximum allowable error of the data is ± 2.95%, at a confidence level of 95%.

The Direction of the Country
25.6% of Romanians believe that things in Romania are heading in a good direction. 68.6% believe that things are going in the wrong direction, while 5.8% do not know or do not respond.
They are optimistic about the direction of the country, especially: voters of PNL and USR, young people under 30, people with higher education, residents of Bucharest and large urban areas, and state employees. They are pessimistic about the direction of the country, especially: voters of AUR, people with primary education, residents of small urban and rural areas.
Sources of Concern. Comparison over 10 years: 2015-2025
When asked what is the most important source of concern for them at this moment, 23.2% mention rising prices (compared to 9.7% ten years ago, in 2015), 19.6% the possibility of a conflict/war in the area (compared to 18.4% in 2015), 16.2% the deterioration of health status (compared to 18.4% in 2015), 13.6% political instability (compared to 10.5% in 2015), 9.7% decrease in income (compared to 18.6% in 2015), 7.4% loss of job (compared to 13.2% in 2015), 2.4% deterioration of the environment (compared to 2.6% in 2015), 1.8% occurrence of natural disasters (compared to 5% in 2015), 3.5% mention other issues (compared to 1.8% in 2015), and 2.6% do not know or do not respond.
Voters of PSD and AUR, young people under 30, people with primary education, and rural residents are the population categories most concerned about rising prices.
The possibility of a conflict/war in the area represents the main source of concern especially for voters of USR and people over 45 years old.
They mention the deterioration of health status as the main source of concern, especially: voters of PSD and PNL, and people over 60 years old.
