INSP has reported eight cases of West Nile virus infection in Romania, urging the population to take protective measures against mosquitoes.

From the beginning of the reporting period on June 2 until August 21, eight cases of West Nile virus infection have been confirmed, including three in Bucharest and one each in the counties of Dolj, Galati, Prahova, Prahova, Sălaj and Vrancea. The cases mainly affect the elderly. INSP recommends preventive measures, such as wearing long clothing, using repellents and draining areas with stagnant water to limit exposure to mosquitoes.
