The director of the 'Sfânta Maria' hospital in Iași, Cătălina Ionescu, explained the evolution of cases of infection with Serratia marcescens, which led to the death of six children. Ionescu emphasized that the report to the Public Health Directorate was made on September 15, and the measures taken after identifying the outbreak included limiting admissions to the ICU and training staff on hygiene. Sanctions were also applied for irregularities in reporting infections.
