The Pitești County Emergency Hospital has achieved a medical premiere, performing on January 12, 2026, the first treatments for prostate adenoma through laser enucleation. The procedures were carried out by a mixed team of specialists, including Prof. Dr. Jean-Baptiste Roche from France and Dr. Teodor Cătălin Constantinescu, head of the Urology Department. This minimally invasive technique is recommended for patients with large adenomas, significantly reducing recovery time and length of hospitalization.
For example, patients can be discharged after just 48 hours, compared to two weeks in the case of traditional surgeries. The new 60W Thulium laser, purchased with the support of the Argeș County Council, represents an important advance in urology, placing the medical unit on the map of modern treatments in Romania.
